Our Story

Growing up, I witnessed first hand how poverty and a lack of awareness stole the futures of countless girls. I watched girls leave school each day only to spend their evenings hawking on busy streets to support their families. I met others who desperately wanted to go to school but never had the opportunity because they worked as domestic helpers or because their parents simply could not afford the cost of an education.

What troubled me even more was seeing how easily many of these girls were taken advantage of. Their innocence was exploited by men who offered false promises of love, marriage, financial security, or a better future. Too often, those promises ended in unplanned pregnancies, abuse, broken dreams, and lives permanently changed. It became clear to me that many of these tragedies were rooted not in a lack of potential, but in a lack of education, awareness, guidance, and support.

Those experiences left a lasting impression on my heart and shaped a conviction that has never changed: education is the bedrock of empowerment. It is more than learning to read and write. Education gives girls the knowledge to recognise their worth, the confidence to speak up, the wisdom to make informed decisions, and the courage to pursue opportunities that can transform their lives. When combined with good health, emotional support, and mentorship, education becomes one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality.

What began as a burden on my heart gradually became a calling—a movement dedicated to ensuring that no girl is left behind.

In 2023, that vision became a reality with the establishment of De Global Girl, an initiative created to support vulnerable girls through education, awareness, and empowerment. As the vision expanded to address the broader needs of girls and women, the organisation was incorporated and is now known as SHE Foundation, an acronym that reflects our mission of Support, Healing, and Educational Empowerment.

Today, SHE Foundation works alongside schools, families, communities, volunteers, and partners to equip girls and women with the knowledge, skills, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. Through education, health and wellbeing programmes, mentorship, advocacy, safeguarding initiatives, and community engagement, we are building a future where every girl is safe, valued, confident, and empowered to fulfil her potential.

Our story is not just about an organisation. It is about every girl whose dreams deserve a chance, every woman whose voice deserves to be heard, and every community that becomes stronger when girls are given the opportunity to flourish.
